About

The Stavanger International Piano Festival was founded by Kiril Kutin, pianist and Music Director of Kutin Konsertforening. Each March, the festival welcomes pianists, pedagogues, and music lovers to some of Rogaland's most storied venues, including Stavanger Konserthus and St. Petri Church.

The 2027 festival opens on 11 March with a performance by legendary pianist Martha Argerich, joined by the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra under conductor Boian Videnoff, at the Fartein Valen concert hall — Stavanger Konserthus's 1,500-seat main auditorium.

The festival's mission is simple: to inspire, support, and encourage piano music-making of the highest quality. It gives gifted young players the rare opportunity to perform and study alongside world-renowned soloists and teachers, fostering a community built on exchange rather than competition. At its heart is a holistic view of the pianist — as virtuoso, chamber musician, teacher, and more — drawing on the great international schools of piano playing.

An offshoot of Patrons of Exceptional Artists, the festival is dedicated to discovering and nurturing extraordinary talent while honoring the great traditions of the past. The festival is also committed to sustainability, partnering with local organizations on waste recycling and encouraging low-impact travel to and from events.
